Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026

The short version

  • You can use the chart calculators without an account. If you don't create one, we don't keep your birth details against your name — only anonymous totals about how the site is used.
  • If you create an account, we store what you save: your profile and your saved charts.
  • We don't sell your data. We show ads through Google and link to Amazon as an affiliate — both are described below.
  • You can ask us to delete everything at any time. Email support@rainbowmoon.com.

What we collect

Things you type in

  • Birth details — the date, time and place of birth you enter to calculate a chart. When you use a compatibility tool, that includes the details you enter for the other person.
  • Account details — your name, email address and password, if you register. Passwords are handled by our accounts service and we never see them in readable form.
  • Profile details — anything you choose to add in your settings, such as a display name, a short bio, or the town you live in.
  • Messages — what you write in the reading-request form, including your name and email so we can reply.

Things we create

  • Saved charts — charts you choose to save to your profile.
  • Usage counts — we count how many charts are created, grouped by the birth place on the chart and the day it was made. For signed-in members this count is linked to the account; otherwise it isn't linked to anyone.

Things collected automatically

  • Your IP address and basic request details (browser type, time of request). Our servers log these, and we use the IP address to limit how often a single visitor can call our services. This is how we keep automated abuse under control.
  • Local storage in your browser — we keep your signed-in session (encrypted), any chart you asked to save before you finished registering, and small display preferences. This stays on your device and you can clear it in your browser settings.

Why we hold it

  • To give you what you asked for — calculating a chart, saving it, answering your message. Without this data the feature can't work.
  • To keep the site working and safe — logging, rate limiting and bot checks. We have a legitimate interest in not letting automated traffic degrade the site for everyone else.
  • To understand what's used — the anonymous usage counts described above tell us which tools are worth improving.
  • Because you agreed — where we ask for consent, such as personalised advertising. You can change your mind at any time.

Other companies involved

We don't sell your personal information. A few services we rely on do receive data when you visit:

  • Google AdSense shows the ads on this site and may set cookies to decide which ads you see. Google's privacy policy explains what it collects; you can review your own ad settings at My Ad Center.
If you're in the UK or the European Economic Area, we ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the Ad privacy settings link at the bottom of every page. Ads still appear if you decline — they're just not personalised.
  • Google reCAPTCHA checks that the reading-request and registration forms are being filled in by a person. It collects device and behaviour information, subject to Google's privacy policy and terms.
  • Google Firebase Hosting serves the pages of this site and keeps standard server logs.
  • Amazon — some book links are affiliate links. If you follow one, Amazon knows you arrived from here and we may earn a commission on a purchase. We don't receive your order details.

We also share information where the law requires it, or to investigate abuse of the site.

How long we keep it

  • Account, profile and saved charts — until you delete them or ask us to close your account.
  • Reading requests and replies — kept as email, so we can follow up on the conversation.
  • Server logs containing IP addresses — kept only as long as they're useful for security and troubleshooting, then discarded.
  • Usage counts — kept indefinitely. These are totals, not a record of any individual's activity.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your account and everything attached to it
  • stop using your data for a particular purpose

Email support@rainbowmoon.com and we'll action it. We may need to confirm you own the account first. If you're in the UK, EU, or another region with data-protection laws, these rights are yours by law and you can also complain to your local regulator.

Children

RainbowMoon isn't intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information — if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll remove it.

Where your data goes

Our services and the companies listed above operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside your own country, including in the United States.

Security

Connections to this site are encrypted, your session is stored encrypted in your browser, and access to the systems holding member data is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously — if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Questions about any of it — or a request about your own data — go to support@rainbowmoon.com, or use the contact form.
